How to Use Holdem Hawk to Play Better and win more. (*Must Read)

Let's start out with a few quick terms:

  • "Playable Outs" - The number of cards that could come and improve your hand. For example, say you have 2 hearts in your hand and there are 2 hearts showing on the board, you can figure out how many outs to a flush you have by knowing that there are still 9 hearts left unseen that could come and help you improve to a flush.
  • "Pot Odds" - This is the odds you are getting when you are drawing, without considering future bets. Basically, if you are drawing to hit your hand, you want to make sure there is enough money in the pot to justify drawing. The way you do this is you calculate your expected value of hitting your hand, which is called pot odds.

Don't worry, you don't have to actually calculate these out, Hold'em hawk does all that hard complicated calculations for you, you just have to know how to use these two numbers to win more money at the tables...

The concept is quite simple actually:

  • If your Playable Outs is greater than the Pot Odds (they will be color coded Green), you are in a profitable situation to proceed with the hand (check, bet, or raise depending on how strong you are and your playing style).
  • If your Playable Outs is less than the Pot Odds (they will be color coded Red), there isn't enough money in the pot to justify for you to proceed***, and you should probably fold and save your money.

(***There is one exception to this rule, and it's called "implied odds," which is just a fancy name for "big payoffs you may earn from your opponents calling your bets if you hit your draws." This is usually much more common in No Limit games, because your payoff is usually greater if you hit your big hand, where in limit holdem you can only bet so much.)

You could start playing precise mathematical Texas Holdem just by following the above guidelines using Hold'em Hawk... but lets see what else Hawk can do:

This is where Hold'em Hawk's incredible technology really shines. You see, the "Outs" column is a precise mathematical number that most Poker Pros can figure out the in any given situation. The WC% (win chance %), however, is based on a proprietary formula that is extremely intelligent. Not even the smartest of Poker Pros could ever calculate WC% in their head fast enough to matter.

The WC% is extremely powerful, as it narrows down the outs to razor sharp preciseness by discounting possibilities of those times when you hit the out and still lose.

Quick Example: Lets look at the above image, you can see that there are 2 outs to hit the "trips." However, you can see the WC% says you will only win 93% of the times when you hit the trips. Perhaps 7% of the time you will lose to a better hand. Thus, your 2 outs are only worth about 1.86 outs (2 outs X 93%). This may not seem like a big difference, but precision is critical in Hold'em, as you always want to have the odds on your side when making a call or betting out. Hold'em Hawk will automatically figure this in when adding up to the total playable hands to determine whether you have necessary pot odds to move proceed, or show you red to fold.

GREAT! So I know all about odds and outs now, what else can Hold'em Hawk help me with...

Well aren't we a bit greedy :) Hey, I don't blame you, Texas hold'em has become a very popular and competitive game, and the more edge you can get the better. So speaking of edge, wouldn't be great if you knew all the ins and outs of your opponent's playing style. Then you can just pick them apart at the tables by betting into their weak hands, and you would also know when to back off and save your money when they got you beat.

How can Hold'em Hawk reveal your opponent's play style? By watching them very very closely and learning from their every move, after all, it is named HAWK for a reason!

VP$IP - Tells you the % of flops they see. The lower the number, the tighter they are, the less flops they see, which means that their starting hand quality is selective and usually they only see the flop with premium hands.

PFR % - Is the % of times they raise pre flop. Higher means the player raises with anything. If lower beware of their raises, they likely have a monster.

PFA - Post Flop Aggression. Indicates how aggressive they are after the flop. Lower number means they are more passive.
